The year is 2016. It has been eighteen years since the trio graduated from Hogwarts, along with the rest of their peers. Some of which were less than favorable. However, life is not as grand as one could surmise or hope that it could be...the Wizarding World is a dark place to be living in these days. Five years ago Harry believed that he had destroyed the last Horcrux, Nagini. However, what he didn't know was that the Horcrux was actually Dumbledore, which was why Voldemort was so keen to kill him, however, his body had to remain intact so that the horcrux wasn't destoyed. Severus Snape was the one that succeeded on that front, doing the task that Draco Malfoy was ever so reluctant to ignore...
But things are a little more complicated than that...for you see...nineteen years ago they believed that the greatest wizard of all time, Albus Dumbledore was dead. However, they were wrong, oh so wrong. They couldn't be blamed for this, however, it seemily appeared that he was dead. However, what they didn't know was that Aberforth Dumbledore had taken Polyjuice Potion to look like his older brother. He hadn't wanted his brother to do this, however Abeforth was adament and Albus finally caved in. However, he truly regrets the death of his brother. Dumbledore was furious because Aberforth meant nothing to him, he wanted Albus dead. However, he did not blame Severus, after all, Aberforth had appeared to be Albus. He was simply angry because he had been hoodwinked, fooled, tricked...by the only other wizard that one could ever say was greater than him and this bothered him immensely. However, Dumbledore was old. He has no doubt in his mind that Dumbledore's time is near, which is why he is eager for someone to off the man, so that the Horcrux can continue to stay intact.
Also, nineteen years ago, the Ministry relieved Severus Snape of his charges, saying that they truly believed that he was undercover working for the Order. Silly fools, they shouldn't have believed he was merely working under the pretense of an Unbreakable Vow. He was a villian through and through. No that they were intelligent or succinct enough to figure that out on their own. Draco Malfoy was also pardoned considering he was a minor and they thought he was 'pushed' into the situation rather than acting on their own accord. What a lot of idiots! It just made it easier for the Death Eaters to gain their bearings.
Dumbledore was exceptionally grave, knowing that the Death Eaters weren't going to give up. No matter what they'd always fight, even if he were dead. Even if Harry were dead, they'd continue their raping, pillaging, killing, and bestow other such tortures upon muggles and blood traitors. It was a sad thing to have to deal with, and so he made sure to teach the Trio the most that he possibly could to defeat Voldemort. Sadly, not even he has figured out what the last horcrux is, and it perplexes him. For without the last piece of the puzzle, they can't possibly rid the world of Lord Voldemort. Little did he know, this wasn't going to be as easy as it had been to defeat the previous 'Dark Lord' so to speak. Grindelwald seemed to fade into blackness, no one seemed to remember him. They were all too concerned with the going ons of Tom Marvolo Riddle.
Five years ago, Harry had destroyed the snake Nagini. He had thought he had killed Voldemort, but he had merely killed the body of the man. He hadn't killed the Dark Lord's spirit, who resided in the body of another as he had done with Quirrell. However, a few death eaters had died in this battle: Deanna Rosier nee Yaxley, Peter Pettigrew, and Lucinda Lestrange. Soon, however, the Death Eaters came to his add and the Potions Master provided him with the same potion that Wormtail had concocted and probably ten times better, as well. Harry again was the victim of the blood that was forceably taken, but the Potion Master made the wound as deep as he possibly could without killing the boy. Having a Death Eater with a personal grudge against him, didn't help Harry much. However, the boy managed to apparate back home to his wife, Ginny, before collapsing on the floor. Of course, she restored him to his full health and asked him what was wrong.
"He's back again, Ginny. We failed. We didn't kill him."
Now the Wizarding World is run by the Death Eaters. The Order Members and Supporters children have to pay fines every year their children attend Hogwarts whilst the Death Eater and Death Eater Supporters children go for free and often come from richer families. However, the Death Eaters aren't concerned for the well being of those they condemn. They have the workers heavily guarded, especially if they are doing work for the Death Eaters at the threat of Death or perhaps even Greyback biting one of their precious children.
Aurors are thrown into Azkaban, if they are caught. Order Members and Supporters are thrown in there, if they resist what the Death Eaters tell them to do. The Ministry is forced to remain Neutral or at least Support the DE's at the pentalty of Death or Azkaban, if otherwise.
The task-master's make sure all of the strict laws of the DE's are enforced. Of course, probably a little too well. They task master's happen to be: Rabastan Lestrange, Bellatrix Lestrange, Rodolphus Lestrange, Antonin Dolohov, and Draco Malfoy. Not the nicest bunch of people to have watching the people, but that's sort-of the point, isn't it?
The world is a bleak, bleak place. Will you help make it darker? Or will you resist fighting on the side of the light?
